SMS has been an integral part of the Mobile world. Often we receive or send important information using it. Backing up this information is often challenging or complex. To make this hustle clean and easy Android Developer Jan Berkel came up with an app called SMS Backup +, which is very smooth and user friendly. It allows you to backup you SMS and Call log entries directly to Gmail using a separate label. To achieve this all you need three things.
- Your Android Phone
- A free copy of SMS Backup+
- A Gmail Account
Note : Since SMS Backup + needs IMAP Access to your Gmail account, we need to first head over to the Gmail Settings and enable the IMAP Access. You need not to worry its completely safe. You can go to Gmail Settings from the Top Right corner.
Once you have enabled the IMAP Access, head to play store and install the SMS Backup + application or you can directly click on the link here
After that go ahead and launch SMS Backup + App from your android. You will be seeing the following screen.
Now click on connect and choose the Gmail Account where you want to see your SMS and Call Logs.
Once the account is setup, you can click on Backup to proceed with backup. It will take time depending on your data and network bandwidth. Once the backup is complete you will see the following labels on your Gmail Inbox containing your Call Logs and SMS details. Isn’t that easy setup?
SMS Backup + also offers you some advance option for backup. For example you can choose the backup intervals, contents to backup, backup only using WiFi and many more.
You can also restore the SMS and Call logs directly on another device, old or new using SMS Backup +. You just need to add same account which you used for backup earlier and then just tap on restore. Wait for the magic to happened and all you call logs and messaged will be restored with proper date and time.
