Google has been testing Android 6.0 over the summer, and many of you might have been tasting the Marshmallow (Android 6.0) Developer Preview already while others are eagerly waiting for the final version to be released.
Going by the experience of Android Lollipop last year, most of us made up a mind that Marshmallow might face the same fortune of delayed upgrade timelines. This time Google wants to recuperate and will be releasing it on 5th of October. OTA Updates might get delayed by Google but those who cannot resist themselves can always use the update zip from Google’s Developer website. Factory images will be available if you need to flash back to stock or need to restore from rooted devices. Reports claims that October 5th is when the final Marshmallow code will be pushed to AOSP too.
There are speculations about the Nexus 4, 7 (2012), and 10 might not receive the Marshmallow Update (Lollipop will be the final version for them). On the other hand we do have some rigid news coming for Nexus 7 (2013) which is the new family member to join Marshmallow Android 6.0 along with Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player.
