Keeping the words, Google has just released the final Android 6.0 Marshmallow Builds. Which has many great improvements over previous Lollipop.

So if you are one of them who doesn’t like to wait for OTA and want to install it now then you are at the right place.

We at techturtle will let you help with the flashing process step by step but before that a statuary warning: DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK, TECHTURTLE will not be responsible to any data loss or bricks of your device.

There are certain prerequisite which is required before we proceed with the new Android Marshmallow flashing.

  • First you need to download the builds from Google Website. Currently the Android 6.0 Marshmallow builds are only available for Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus 5, Nexus Player and Nexus 7 2013. Here are the official links for Downloads from Google.
  • Also download the Nexus Root Toolkit, this is a great app which will make you flashing activity very easy.

After Installing the Nexus Root Toolkit, Launch the Application. The Nexus Root Toolkit will look like following The Application will look like following.

Also make sure that you have correct drivers installed for your Nexus Device on Windows PC.

Step1: First and most important process before flashing Android Marshmallow is to take backup of your Nexus Device. In order to do that on the main toolkit console click on Backup.

Step2: Now Select the Backup option as Create Android Backup File. It is one of the best method to backup you device. There are other options available for backup which can be chosen based on individual choices.

Step3 : You will not be given a warning screen and you can just go through it and then click on Okay to proceed.

Step4 : In this step we need to choose a location on our windows computer for saving the backup file.

Step5 : Now Device will reboot automatically and you will get a prompt on the screen for starting the backup : Just proceed with that.

Step6 : In order to apply update you need to have the bootloader of the device unlocked. If its not unlocked you will not be able to flash the New Marshmallow 6.0 , This may void your warranty so please make sure that you consider this before proceeding with further steps.

Step7 : In order to unlock the bootloader launch the Nexus Root Toolkit and click on UNLOCK Bootloader


Follow the onscreen guidance to unlock the bootloader.

Note : This Step will RESET all DATA and Settings on your Nexus Device.

Step8: I hope you have downloaded the respective Marshmallow build for your nexus devices. So we will procced with the applying update. Now on the Nexus Toolkit Console, Click on Flash Stock+ Unroot


Step9 : Now as per the screen shot below choose the option and then locate the tar.gz file which you have downloaded from Google’s Website.


Step10: You will be asked to verify the Hash Check the image file which you selected that can be found in the Google Website where you downloaded the Zip File.

Step11: Now wait for the process to complete. Now an automated script will run and copy all files which is required for update on the Nexus Device. You will see a screen like below.

Step11: After the completion of the above: you can exit of command line windows and your device will reboot. Now the final step is to lock your bootloader again (You can also skip that if you don’t care about the lock icon coming while starting the device or you are in to rooting and flashing custom Android OS)

Step12: Now Just follow the on screen instaruction and your device will be reboot. Congratulation, Now you have the latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed of your nexus Device.



Step12: In order to restore the Data which you backup initially, Just follow the process below.

Now simply locate the file which you saved during the initial backup and follow on screen direction
